Hello book junkies! I see that you’ve finally gotten your nose off the book you are reading right now and decided to check your phone. (And I know you’re gonna put your nose back into that book as soon as possible! π) Anyways, today I’ll be talking about the books I read in April 2020 during quarantine! Woohoo! π
So, before starting the list I would love to know the books you’ve read this April or say this year. And here’s a link to my Twitter account where you can follow me to stay updated about recent releases and short reviews!
Life during lockdown is hard for many. But let’s admit this. We, the bookworms, now specially got MUCH time to reread our favorite books and even read new books. Not to forget, EBOOKS. Moving to our topic, I recently read this book named – “My life as Kelsey” by Victoria Anders. And here are, my thoughts about itππ ———
“Live life with no Regrets…..”
This is what Kelsey’s mantra is.
Before getting into the detailed review of the book, here’s a short interpretation of it – It’s a fancy YA(Young Adult) book and describes the stages and situations a teenager has to go through when they have a family crisis.
Plot–
Kelsey Payne works as an instructor at the Roller Coaster rides. Her Monotonous instructions are just like her monotonous life. She lives in the Forest Hills which is one of the poorest locality in their city. It’s a normal day in Kelsey’s life as she works and helps people in the Roller coaster rides. But she doesn’t know that day can change her life. It all starts when a group of boys decide to have a ride. One of them has sunglasses on. When Kelsey asks the young man to remove them as they are quite not allowed, she falls for his blue eyes. But she knows her limits. According to her mom, boys are users and Kelsey is not allowed to date. Kelsey believes it’s because she doesn’t know who her father is. But is it a real story or is her mom lying? Will she ever be friends with the sunglass guy?
May be this what the Roller coaster ride looks like where Kelsey works…
Read it and do let me know your thoughts.
What I liked about the book –
1. The author’s way if writing the book is very beautiful. Why? Because believe me I finished the book in 2 sittings in 2 days. It just keeps you binded
2. You never know what’s going to happen the next moment π π Like, the story has a flow…. And then suddenly something happens and you feel like screaming. To be honest, I enjoy reading these kind of books π
3. She explains the hardships of a teenager who is squeezed in a family crisis. Let’s be honest now, the movies we see in Netflix or wherever, describe only the good-fancy part. But where does the other FAMILY part go? Clearly, 70% teenagers go through family problems everyday . So I really like how she wrote about Real Problems and not just everything people write to gain popularity.
4. Have you watched any series on Netflix? Or Gossip Girl? Or Pretty Little Liars? Like these are the teen series and what do they represent? Fancy Life. Spend dollars every day. Do party. But does this all happen in real life? No offence to the above-mentioned-series-lovers and to the ones who really party n enjoy life… But I believe we mostly stay at home. And this girl is poor and this describes the other part of the story which we mostly miss….
What I didn’t like about the Book –
1. I felt that the story at some point, went Too fast and the part where not needed, went Too slow. That actually was a problem.
2. I completely respect the author’s views, but at some parts the short situations could be improved and some unnecessary sub-stories could have been removed.
My Final Thoughts about the book—-
The book overall was a great experience itself. I wish I could read this book with the same enthusiasm and with the same excitement I had when I read it for the 1st time. Really, it’s like a good book to take your mind off things and have a good time during lockdown!
Disclaimer- I received a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review
Hoping, the-one-reading-this and his/her family is safe and in great health. I would love to know if you have any book recommendations and would love to review your book for an honest review if you are an author. Untile next time, keep on reading books and share your thoughts here. Bubye! ππ

1.Book Review ——
I read it’s E-Books recently (where do you suppose will I get a paperback in this lockdown π)and believe me it’s that sassy Teenage story. Like, you would enjoy every part of it and its hard to put the book down. Now let’s talk about the book in detail –
Plot—
This story revolves around a girl – Lara Jean who falls in this puzzled maze of Love. As a child, Lara Jean has written 5 letters to her 5 crushes; but had never sent them. She was too shy for that but as she becomes 16, she believes that the Letters hold a great power – It helps her to just let out all her feelings. In the words of Lara Jean – “Whenever, I read my letters, I get to know how powerful our emotions can be.”
Talking about the setting – She has 2sisters and a dad(her mom died when she was young). So her older sister Margot (who is 2years older than Lara) took care of the house till now. But she decides to go to college in Scotland to study Anthropology. So now Lara Jean is the older sister and the role model for her younger sister – Kitty (6th grade)
From Left – Kitty, Margot and Lara Jean
The main characters in this story besides the above mentioned people are – Josh(their neighbour and Margot’s Boyfriend) , Peter Kavinsky, Genevieve (Peter’s Girlfriend) and Chris ( Genevieve’s cousin and Lara Jean’s Best Friend) . So the story unveils itself as the 5 letters gets posted by someone anonymous and 5 of her PAST crushes get the letters at the SAME TIME.
Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean after their CONTRACT
I got goosebumps when I read it. I mean this is the worst nightmare for any teenager! π So as the story continues Lara Jean becomes more and more messed up and many things await that she didn’t have a clue of!
It’s a MUST READ book. (If you love Young Adult genre) . I recently read it’s E-Book. Here’s a link to that –

2.Movie Review —-
I watched it’s Movie yesterday and it’s my HONEST REVIEW about it!
The movie to be honest was good. It was released on Netflix so of course it received a lot of appreciation and many of my friends were talking about it for days. But here’s what I think – There’s no rule to like what everyone does. Even Lara Jean said it ! π
What I liked about the Movie —
1. The movie’s Star cast was really very good and they took the actors as described in the book.
From Left – Josh, Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky
2. Some scenes were very precise about whatever was written in the book and they added some humour in the movie which increased the fun!
This is what Chris said to Lara Jean’s father π
3. And who doesn’t love “I like me better” Song by Lauv? They just inserted the right song at the right place! π»
Lara Jean and Chris on their way to the School Ski Trip
What I didn’t like about the movie—-
(Alert – If you haven’t read the book and want to read it in future then don’t read this section. Some spoilers might ruin your reading experience!)
1. When the hell did Genevieve snatch Lara Jean’s favourite Scrunchie from Peter and showed off at the end of the ski trip?! May be I am blind but millions of those who have read the book aren’t! I mean what’s the point if adding some unnecessary scenes instead of adding the already mentioned stories in the book?
Peter Kavinsky assuring Lara Jean that her scrunchie is safe with him
2. And when did Peter shout in front of the school not to bother Lara Jean about all that happened in the Ski Trip?! I mean of course it’s a good initiative and a good way to represent how good Peter is…. But it’s false. He never did that. They didn’t at all have that talk and those pictures in front of Lara Jean’s Locker.
3. Scenes I wished were added in the movie which were there in the book –
Recital Party mess scene
Going to buy antique chairs with Peter
Dance Battle scene
Kitty getting a Dog (at last!)
The story behind her Mom’s death
How Genevieve and Lara used to be BFFs
Of course a 1hour 30 minutes movie can’t have so much filled in it…. But I guess some part could have been added. In short, I LOVED THE MOVIE. {Not everything is perfect} And the Book is π
I am currently reading it’s 2nd part – “P.S-I still Love you” and will definitely watch it’s movie. And guess what? I will be writing a review in it too π Do let me know what you think about the movie and the book if you have watched or read it…. π»

So this book is basically about a group of boys who land one by one in a unknown place(The Glade) where they are surrounded by a maze which changes it’s pattern EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! And they try to solve the pattern and try to get out of the maze. But watch out! There’s lot more and I ain’t giving you spoilers. So you better grab your phone and start reading it’s E-book . Note – Read the book before watching it’s movie. You’ll regret if you go the other way round….
4. Everything Everything
This is my fav book and I have like read it 20-30 times. So, what’s so great about this book? Everything ! π Yeah, this books might seem common to you guys but if you try thinking it over you will reach to amazing results. This book is about a girl who suffers from SCID and hasn’t gone out if her house for 18YEARS. (And we are bored with just 1 month of lockdown π) Anyways, so her life gets interesting when a boy moves next door which makes her realise about the outer world and makes her desperate! Will she go out and does something happen to her ? Read it and you’ll love it! Note- Same as the above one’s . Read it before watching it’s movie.
5. The Book Thief
History. Yes. This book might seem voluminous but it’s just worth a read. It’s about a girl who is a victim of Hitler and his harsh treatments! No, she is not a Jew. But she lives in a Foster family. Even her family are not Jews. So what’s wrong? Her loved ones are……Her bestfriend, her father’s friends…
